Leith Theatre Trust is seeking responsible individuals with excellent interpersonal skills to provide front of house support for events and operations at Leith Theatre.
The Leith Theatre complex was built in 1932, but has been out of regular use since the early 1980s. Leith Theatre Trust acquired a lease of the complex in January 2016 with a view to restoring the spaces and transforming it into a multi-purpose venue for arts, community and events. In 2019, alongside a full calendar of weddings and community events in the Thomas Morton Hall we have an exciting and busy programme of events in the main auditorium including the Hidden Door Weekender in May and the return of Edinburgh International Festival in August.
We are currently seeking responsible individuals with excellent interpersonal skills to provide occasional front of house support for events and operations in the Leith Theatre complex. The role will provide occasional relief to our small venue management team and will involve: overseeing front of house activities while events are in progress, assisting with event set-up and take-down; ensuring Health and Safety compliance; liaising with clients, event organisers, bars staff and security to implement and manage events as necessary; writing and circulating event reports; clearing and checking the premises; office administration relating to events and bookings; and occasional bar service where required.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate: excellent customer service skills including experience of dealing with difficult situations; excellent interpersonal skills; experience of working as part of a small team; basic computer literacy; native or fluent English language skills. An interest in arts and culture and previous experience of events management would be desirable.
The successful candidates will be paid an hourly rate of £8.38. Hours of work will vary to meet the demands of the venue, as and when required. In particular, we anticipate there will be a specific need for duty managers to work more hours during August when the EIF programme is running. Please state in your application how many hours you would be available to work per week. You will be advised of your hours on a two-weekly running rota, but should also be prepared to work occasionally at short notice. Taxis will be provided for your return home from late night shifts.
To apply please send a CV and cover letter setting out how you meet the criteria for the role to email@example.com.
